The automated marking system for concrete pipes was developed to enable efficient and precise marking of concrete pipes with diameters from 400 mm to 1600 mm. The system utilises an igus spatial gantry for the movements along the X and Z axes and ensures stable and optimal positioning of the marking head. Installed at the end of the production line, the system carries out the marking when the line is at a standstill. It marks a length of 1000 mm and includes various variables and codes such as the date of manufacture, the NF logo, the factory logo, the strength classes and the results of leak and tolerance tests.
Igus guides and motors are used for the movements along the X and Z axes. Two guides with one shaft support the large offset and considerable weight to ensure stability.
The automated marking system offers numerous advantages. It saves time and costs through automated labelling, ensures precise positioning of the marking head for high-quality markings and enables product traceability and identification of defective products. It also optimises production by comparing production on different days and reduces the need for manual checks.
